New
listing! Would-Ja pretty much says it all about this 1936 Edward
B. Marks publication of this very colorful and romantic piece with
lyrics by Arthur Herzog Jr. and music by Manning Sherwin. The piece
measures approximately 12.0" x 9.0" and is in very good
condition with a barely noticeable crease, no tears, and great color
retention. Direct from a Palm Springs, CA estate collection of vintage
musical instruments and sheet music, it features Frederick Manning
artwork of a young couple sitting among the flowering shrubs and
proposing and an inset photo of the Lane sisters Leota and Lois
who originally sang the song. Great as a gift for the one you love!

Whimsical
1902 14.0" x 10.75" M. Witmark publication of "The
Limerick Girls", a music supplement of the San Francisco Examiner.
With words and music by Chauncey Olcott "in his charming new
Irish melodrama Old Limerick Town by Augustus Pitou", it reflects
a style of days gone by. We love the proud young man in his finest
period clothes on the front cover, and the piece is in very good
condition for the age with about 4 minor edge tears each 0.25"
or less. Great as a gift for the Irish man or woman in your life!

Get
ready for a jungle adventure and one of the hardest to find Indian
stories of all time with 2 more books from a major collection of
Whitman Big and Better Little Books! Take your pick of rare first
editions- very hard to find Big Little Book of Jungle Jim by Alex
Raymond (425 pages, copyright 1936) and Flame Boy and the Indians'
Secret by Oren Arnold (298 pages, copyright 1938). Both books were
published by the Whitman Publishing Company of Racine, Wisconsin
and measure 4.5" x 3.5". Both books are illustrated throughout
with fabulous comic book style illustrations matching the story
on almost every other page and feature inscriptions telling the
story. Both books are in good condition with edges and spine showing
normal moderate scuffing but completely intact and modest age- toning.
The Jungle Jim book is missing a tiny section of color on the front
cover. While the books are tight, they are fragile as are most all
of the Whitman Big and Better Little Books of this age. All listings
from this major estate consignment are very hard to find and priced
well below individual book prices from rare book dealers. Great
as a gift! |

We
get lots of request for vintage airplane and aerospace books and
memorabilia, so we were quite happy when this well known aviation
book The Cutting Edge by Navy pilot C. J. Heatley III with forward
by Senator Jake Garn came to us as part of a major Los Angeles,
CA estate consignment. Filled with information as well as color
and black & white photographs, any airplane afficianado or collector
is going to love this very hard to find 1986 first edition. Navy
pilot Heatley took his camera into the cockpit of an F-14 fighter
plane and onto the deck of an aircraft carrier to convey the unique
sights and sensations that pilots experience. Photos and text include
Russian bombers investigating the battle group, a crippled plane
making an emergency landing, shock waves circling a supersonic aircraft,
an F-14 TV camera targetting an airplane. There are interviews with
attack, fighter, antisubmarine, electronic countermeasure, and helicopter
pilots. Also, a Top Gun flight instructor flies against his students
in a mock dogfight and an air boss directs 400 men and 40 airplanes
on the deck of an aircraft carrier. There's technical information
and drawings on the various aircraft as an added bonus. A Thomasson,
Grant & Howell first edition, the 152 page 12.25" x 9.25"
book is in excellent condition and includes the original paper cover
which has a tear but is otherwise intact- great as a gift!

Extremely
rare John F. Kennedy fully illustrated commemorative- The Illustrated
Story of John F. Kennedy: Champion of Freedom "with portrait
for framing on back cover" is a real find. The book is filled
with color drawings and associated captions of JFK, Jacqueline Kennedy,
and his life from boyhood through his inauguration, presidency,
and his assassination including a rendering of the famous photograph
of John saluting his slain father. This illustrated memorial book
of Kennedy's life is a period publication published right
after JFK's assassination and not a reproduction. It measures approximately
10.25" x 7" and is in remarkable condition. Also included
free of charge is an advertisement for Kennedy Memorial Stamps taken
from the New Haven Register newspaper. To be honest, these illustrated
pages would be magnificant in frames but it would also be kind of
sad to break up such a magnificant and rare book. Pulbished in 1964
by Worden & Childs of New York City. |

For
that Molly in your life, how about "Molly Dear, It's You I'm
After", a 1915 Jerome H. Remick publication of the song with
lyrics by Frank Wood and music by Henry E. Pether. It's got a terrific
cover with inset photograph of Blanche Ring on the cover, and it
was signed at time purchase by the original owner from whose estate
this comes. The 13.5" x 10.5" piece is in good condition
with about 6 substantive edge tears 1.0" or longer, but they'll
not be noticeable in the frame for which this is destined. As a
special bonus, included is Twinkle Shadow Bells Cradle Song, with
words by Frances Emerson Walker and music by Natalie P. Metro. Published
in 1906 by Mozart Music of New York, the 13.75" x 11.0"
piece has complete spine separation and several edge tears, but
it also has a wonderful lithograph of a bird sitting on a flowering
branch using a rich blue color, definitely worth a frame.

Original
Stereo soundtrack album of the famous film Dr. Zhivago is very hard
to find and features some great photographs from the movie. MGM
released the David Lean film of Boris Pasternak's Dr. Zhivago in
1965, produced by Carlo Ponti, and it won the Academy Award that
year. The music is quite classic, composed and conducted by Maurice
Jarre and generally accepted as one of the best film soundtracks
of all time. In addition to all the interior photographs from the
movie, the text also describes the Dr. Zhivago story, information
about the Director David Lean, the stars of the movie including
Geraldine Chapman, Julie Christie, Alec Guiness, Omar Sharif, Rod
Steiger, and others, and the 1957 book by Boris Pasternak. The record
and jacket are in very good condition, direct to you via a Los Angeles,
