Mint
condition, early 19th century German porcelain bisque figurine of
a young man playing a musical instrument in the woods, lamb resting
at his feet. Both hands grasp the unusual fluted instrument which
he plays with a stylish hat on his head and a fur pelt wrapped around
his body and hanging down (note the head to the left below the bag
that hangs from his waist). The facial detail in particular and
everything else about this piece indicates the high quality used
by the best European manufacturers at the turn of the century. The
figurine stands a full 16.0" tall and is in excellent condition.

Impressive
early example of majolica from the shelf of a major penthouse estate
on 5th Avenue in New York City. The ceramic ornamentation you see
on the sides actually is separated from the vessel within, a terrific
display of fine craftsmanship and a technically difficult accomplishment.
We particularly love the handles in the shape of the mythical beast,
and it's clear from the subtle variations in the elaborate ornamentation
that the entire piece is rigorously hand made. While there are some
minor signs of age wear, it's in excellent condition given the age
with no cracks or damage and only two of the tiniest flea chips
imaginable on the tips of the green lace surrounding the entire
ornamental tureen. The colors of this piece are vibrant and the
decoration intricate and extremely high quality, and it measures
approximately 6.75" high, 12.5" handle to handle, and
6.0" deep. |

Pretty
hand painted under glaze set of 5 Stetson china plates in an exotic
nature motif of green leaves and red berries set against a white
base and straight gray lines that really make for an interesting
design. The hand painting is very well done and evokes a cheery,
tropical feel. In 1946 Joseph W. Stetson, a designer of dinnerware,
moved from Chicago to take over the Illinois China Company that
had been in operation in Lincoln, Illinois since 1919. By 1955,
Stetson claimed to be the largest manufacturer of individual hand-painted
ceramic dinnerware in the United States. The plates are a nice size
at 10.5" in diameter, and it's marked on the back with the
manufacturer's mark of the Stetson China Co. of Lincoln, IL as well
as "Copyright 1955" and "Handpainted Under-Glaze".
These decorative plates are in very good condition condition and
are great to both display and use every day- direct to you from
an Augusta, GA estate collection consigned exclusively to Collectics
and offered at a real bargain price. |

Monumental
exotic Belgian porcelain covered jar or urn c. early to mid 1900s
has so many fine features we really don't know where to start. Made
by Boch Freres, a well known Belgian ceramic maker, this covered
urn or jar (ginger jar?) is in a pattern called Vieux Rhodes which
has matching dinnerware if you are lucky enough to ever find it.
The size of the piece struck us first, standing a full 16.0"
high and 9.0" in diameter at the widest point; the opening
without the top cover is approximately 4.5". We love the rich,
vibrant colors and the exotic landscape of colorful flowers, ferns,
a peacock, birds flying overhead, and the dog perched on top of
the covered jar adds that final bit of unique flair. The jar has
subtle ridges which we find a lot more interesting than smooth vessels
of this shape because the little indents help catch light and make
the porcelain surface really shimmer. The interior of the porcelain
has a subtle blue shade to it, and we believe this to be polychromed
Delftware. It's fully and properly marked on the bottom with the
Vieux Rhodes Boch "Handworked" mark, and it's in excellent
condition and part of a major Greenwich, CT estate collection of
antique ceramics; cross listed on Bigger Ticket 1. |

Wonderful
covered box composed of hand hammered etched copper exterior over
a copper or white metal interior, with a flow blue porcelain top.
This is an older piece, not one of the reproductions circulating.
There is some very minor wear to the bottom edge of the etched copper
trim on the bottom piece, and the lid is in outstanding condition
with no chips, cracks, or damage of any kind. You can see the age
in the porcelain top. Dimensions are approximately 5" x 4" and about
2" high. Nice raised curve to the porcelain top and an irregular
shape to the box. |

Originally
owned by the great-grandmother of the lady's whose estate this set
came from, this is a rare opportunity to own a German lustreware
set of 5 hot chocolate or espresso cups and saucers. It has raised
surfaces that give the cups and saucers added design interest, but
most of all we love the lustreware per se but especially the rare
blueish-purple colors trimmed in gold that make this obviously very
expensive and high quality set stand out. Each cup stands approximately
2.75" high and 2.25" in diameter, and each saucer measures
4.5" in diameter and has a slightly curved outer edge trimmed
in gold. Each cup features the impressed mark "Germany"
and is further decorated by vibrant and realistic flowers and leaves
in a manner that you just didn't see past about the turn of the
20th century. All five cups and saucers are in excellent condition
with no chips or damage and amazingly little age wear even to the
gilt trim and highlights. Included at no charge is a 6th cup with
a tiny edge chip less than 0.25" that you can keep as a spare
in the unfortunately event that one of the 5 mint sets gets damaged.

Whimsical
and very hard to find glamour look Japanese head vase is in excellent
condition and features the realistic, rosy cheek and long eyelash
look that collectors of c. 1950s /1960s head vases look for. We
love the details on this one, such as the ruby red lips and rosy
cheeks, her hand gently touching her face to admire her perfectly
coiffed face and hair. The earrings are a nice touch as is the hat
with bow that forms the top opening of this vintage head vase. The
head vase stands approximately 6.5" high, 5.0" wide, and
4.25" deep. It's marked on the bottom Japan and has the remnants
of its paper label (probably Inarco or Napco), direct from a Palm
Springs, CA estate collection of vintage ceramics exclusive to Collectics.

Outstanding
set of 5 Sascha Brastoff coffee cups and saucers c 1950s -1960s
in a pattern and style that's very hard to find. We love the rich
dark cream colored based glaze and the swirling abstract gray that
decorates the entire surface of both cup and saucer. Sascha Brastoff
had a full and eventful life that is reflected in his ceramic artistry,
and the decorative motifs found in his work range from the whimsical
to the erotic. The Sascha Brastoff ceramics factory produced a wide
range of products including vases, lamps, smoking accessories figurines,
dinnerware, and giftware. The most desirable pieces are those with
the full "Sascha Brastoff" signature - which this set has - because
they indicate that Brastoff personally designed and painted those
pieces. You couldn't get a purer representation of the finest Sascha
Brastoff work, and all are properly marked with the full Sascha
Brastoff signature and California mark. The cups are a very generous
size at approximately 2.25" high and flaring out to 4.25"
in diameter, and the saucers are 6.125" in diameter. The entire
set of 5 is in excellent condition, from a Westport, Connecticut
watefront estate. |

Very
hard to find Hall China Medallion 40 oz teapot in the green "Lettuce"
color is in excellent condition and brand new to the site from a
major Charleston, SC estate collection. Medallion was introduced
in 1932 and was Hall's first kitchenware line. Medallion is always
actively sought by collectors for its elegant form and subtle ridges
and colors. The Hall China Company grew out of the aftermath of
the failure of the East Liverpool Pottery Company in East Liverpool,
Ohio when Robert Hall took full ownership of the manufacturing plant
from his partners in the former company as his share in the bankruptcy
dissolution of the company in 1903. East Liverpool Pottery Company
itself had been the result of a 1901 merger of 5 other local East
Liverpool potteries. With this asset, James Hall reincorporated
as the Hall China Company and first began producing china bearing
the Hall china trademarks. This teapot is in excellent condition,
has the early Hall circle mark on the bottom, and measures approximately
8.5" handle to stearn, 5.5" in diameter and 6.75"
high when covered; cross listed on Kitchenware 2. |

Pretty
Arnel ceramic water pitcher and bowl gives the look of yesteryear
at a price everyone can afford. We love the classic look and raised
decoration on both pitcher and bowl, and the pretty blue floral
design is very desirable and a perfect complement to the classic
chamber pot form. Arnel was a Beaverton, Oregon company that manufactured
long lasting, high quality ceramic pottery molds that were decorated
and sold by them as well as white labeled and decorated by other
designers and manufacturers. The bowl measures approximately 8.75"
x 7.75" and stands 2.75" high, while the pitcher rises
to a height of 6.25" including the handle and sits within the
pot. This chamber pot is in excellent condition and properly marked
on the bottom "arnel's" along with the model number and
copyright impressed in the ceramic. Priced to sell fast from a Seattle,
Washington estate collection. |

This
very finely done artist signed porcelain plate features highly detailed
hand painted flowers signed K. Kotch, and it's already mounted to
be hung on a wall for display. The colors of the flowers are rich
and vibrant, and it takes only a cursory glance to recognize the
fine quality of the hand painting. You can see texture and raised
paint details in the flowers that give the work an almost 3 dimensional
quality, and we particularly like the subtle purples of the background
tint which really frame the flowers so well. This fine collector
plate is also marked on the back as being Hand Painted embossed
in gold lettering. It measures approximately 10.5" in diameter
and has gold gilding around the perimeter, and it's in very good
condition right out of a Scottsdale, AZ estate collection of antique
and vintage porcelain. /32 |

Fine
hand painted floral Bareuther German porcelain plates have some
of the most vibrant colors and highly detailed painting that we've
seen in quite a while. The fine quality painting lends unparalleled
realism to the flowers, and these are sure to generate complements
whether just displayed on a shelf, hanging on a wall (they are already
mounted for wall hanging which slips off should you so desire),
or used as a special dinnerware service. Each plate is fully and
properly marked on the back Bareuther Waldsassen, Bavaria Germany,
and the style number. The plates each measure approximately 8.0"
in diameter and are in excellent condition, part of a major estate
consignment of fine German porcelain from the first half of the
20th century. They look great individually or as a matched pair
hanging on the wall! |

Fantastic
pair of period Erphila German bookends of a great nautical theme.
One seaman tugs at a rope straining against the weight, and the
other pushes a barrel perhaps filled with whisky for the voyage.
These are hollow and meant to be filled with sand or some other
substance to provide weighting. Each stands approximately 6" high,
5.25" long, and 3" deep. Fantastic coloring on both pieces...the
blues, burnt orange, grays, and creams really go together. While
most Erphila is Czech, these are the much harder to find German
production. The Erphila mark was used on porcelain imported by Eberling
& Reuss of Philadelphia, PA. The fellow with the rope has the
tiniest glaze chip (not really a chip) at his elbow, and the barrel
fellow has three of the same type of areas of missing glaze (but
again not really a chip per se). It looks like just a bit of surface
glaze came off in these areas as they really don't penetrate the
figure beyond the surface. /85 |

Very
hard to find Hall China Cadet teapot c. 1940s / 1950s in a super
Art Deco shape and unique hook cover lock on the top lid measuring
approximately 6.0" high, 5.5" wide, and 10.0" handle
to spout. We love this shade of blue in Hall dinnerware, and trust
us that it's extraordinarily hard to find any more as blue has always
been one of the most sought after colors by collectors across a
whole range of wears. The elegant shape and unique hook cover of
the Hall Cadet line is what makes it so desirable to Hall China
collecting today. Hall China continues in operation today, having
survived ups and downs over the years but still enjoying success
with its restaurant and commercial grade china It is still celebrated
for the quality and durability of its fireproof cooking china and
by numerous Hall China collecting clubs around the world. This vintage
20th century teapot is in excellent condition and properly marked
on the bottom with the round Hall mark and Made in USA. |
