Super
cute set of 4 Arius Santa Fe Art Tile ceramic cat coasters, glazed
in a rich red with crackle glaze on the whimsical cats themselves
in the center of each coaster. The drink coasters come with a nice
wooden tile holder that angles them back a bit from the front to
make them great to display plus be ready to use. Other than the
machine produced bisque tile base, all Arius work is done entirely
by hand - from the original drawing, to the transfer of patterns,
to the painting, glazing and kiln firing - at a studio in Santa
Fe, New Mexico. Each of the 4 cat tiles has cork feet and the original
paper label denoting Arius Santa Fe Art Tile ©
1987, Prim 4" Cat, and Ind Prim #0032. Each
ceramic tile coaster measures approximately 4.0" x 4.0"
and is in very good condition, right off the shelf of a remote Vermont
estate full of fascinating and whimsical pet and animal collectibles.
Arius tile coasters are still being sold for about $15 per tile
today. /38 |

Very
hard to find 1950s / 1960s vintage poodle pin with real poodle fur
and an expression on his face that will win your heart and those

eye and a smooth fur on his nose for added realism, and the chocolate
brown color is sure to turn heads and goes well with most any color
attire. It measures approximately 2.375" high x 1.75"

For
the fisherman in your family or just for yourself to have a wide
caddy that's a conversation piece, this terrific bamboo fish wine

like his nice open mouth. It comes with a handle for easy carrying
and would be great as a gift to someone along with a nice bottle
of wine at a party. The fish holder measures approximately 16.25"
high mouth to tail and stands 10.25" high to the top of the

If
you're a bird lover, you'll have to love this beautifully detailed,
beautifully colored and realistic porcelain sculpture of two birds
(blue jays ?) feeding their two young ones in the nest with open,
outstretched mouths. It's incredibly realistic, including both the
birds and the extensive tree and flower detail on which they perch.
Both the texture (note the bird's wings) and the painting and glaze
colors are very finely done and detailed, and it all makes for a
very lovely and realistic depiction of these 2 birds and their 2
young hatchlings. The ceramic sculpture measures approximately 9.25"
wide, 8.0" high at the highest point, and 4.5" deep and
comes direct to you from an Augusta, GA estate featuring an extensive

Old
pot metal scottie dog box that you just don't see anymore and consigned
as part of a major Greenwich, CT estate. The box has impressive
detail for pot metal, with the scotty dog fur granular and realistic
and rope edging around the perimeter of the lid to give it a little
added design flair. The hinged box has a wood interior which hides
from above the fact that there's a small gash 0.5" long in
the bottom of the pot metal box, i.e. you can't see it unless you
look at the box from the bottom. It is particularly rare to see
this type of box marked, but this scotty is marked on the bottom
"Made in Japan" with a rising sun logo and "Patent
Applied For." Very sought after by collectors and scotty dog
lovers, this dog box measures 4.0" x 3.25" and stands
1.75" high, and other than the bottom flaw the box is in very
good condition with some serious age to it. |

Highly
collectible Hattie Carnegie dragonfly pin, goldtone metal with yellow
enamel and rhinestones and measuring approximately 1.0" x 1.5".
You'll love the detail on this pin, from the metalwork in the dragonfly
wings to the two ruby rhinestone eyes and yellow enameling which
really adds to the design flair. Hattie Carnegie was born in Vienna,
Austria in 1886 and when 18 years old she emigrated to America with
her family. Soon thereafter in the early 1900s, she opened her first
dress and hat shops in New York City. From this humble beginning
she built up her diversified fashion business incorporated as Hattie
Carnegie Inc. in 1918. At around the time of incorporation, she
introduced jewelry she manufactured largely to complement her dresses
and clothing line. Her jewelry is always of the highest quality
and was expensive even in its day, often worn by New York and Hollywood
theater and movie celebrities. She was known for whimsical themes
using multiple materials combined in interesting ways, with techniques
utilizing enameling, faux pearls, rhinestones, and beads. A Hattie
Carnegie dragonfly pin is sure to generate complements when you
wear it, and it's properly marked on the back Hattie Carnegie. The
pin is in very good condition and comes to you direct from a major
Hilton Head, SC oceanfront estate collection of collectible marked
jewelry. |

New
listing! Pretty hand woven decorative bird hanging to hang on your
favorite door knob will be sure to generate complements and makes
a great gift for any bird lover! The red, blue, and yellow birds
perch among the leaves and branches, with excellent detail and a
pretty blue border framing a cream colored background. It retains
the original tag indicating that the hand sewing is by Mrs. Marie
Jeanne Poirier who notes on the tag that "I come from Cheticamp,
the home of Hooked Rugs." The Cheticamp hooked rug tradition
and the artists in wool have distinguished themselves by the perfection
of his/her designs and craftsmanship. The soft pastel colours, which
are still hand dyed in the Cheticamp tradition, account for their
popularity today. An accomplished artisan will take nine hours of
concentrated work to complete a square foot block of his/her design.
The work measures approximately 15.0" x 3.0" not including
the top hanger, and it's in excellent condition right off the door
of a Savannah, GA townhome built in the 19th century.

You
won't want to miss this very unique hand painted owl bookends, probably
the finest and most highly detailed painted wood bookends we've
had in 10 years. The carving is magnificent with great attention
to detail and depth in areas like the face and eyes, and be sure
to check out the open carving of the bird beaks that's so incredibly
thin it was clearly done by a master carver. But what is really
striking is the intricate enamel painting that adds such realism
and whimsical fun to the owls. Note areas like the feather detail
on the owl chests and the 1960s style flower decorations on the
back brace that could easily have been eliminated in a lesser quality
work. The colors are all vibrant and rich, and the yellow base color
and bright accent colors makes these bookends cheery as well as
striking for the eye. These handcrafted arts & crafts owl bookends
are in excellent condition and measure approximately 9.0" high,
4.75" wide, and 5.0" deep. |
