Normally the vintage John F. Kennedy memorabilia are listed in either that category or in Books & Records, but we wanted to expose advertising collectors to some of the classic ads to be found in select Time and Newsweek magazines. As such, check out this vintage Newsweek magazine that tracks the early days of the Kennedy administration and those closest to JFK in Congress and his administration. It's a December 11, 1962 vintage Newsweek magazine with feature National Affairs article Kennedy's Insiders Now. There is also an article on the Friendship 7 space ship and a great feature article on Sears Roebuck as the Christmas season approaches, forecasting $1 billion in sales and exploring how Sears got to be the biggest retailer and "what's behind its continuing spectacular growth. There's also great vintage advertising in this edition from Ford Thunderbird, Lincoln Continental, Western Electric, TWA Airlines, Tarreyton cigarettes, Honeywell computers, Chivas Regal, Seagrams Gin, Goodyear, Liberty Mutual, and more. The magazine is in very good condition, has an original address label, and is great as a gift to any Kennedy collector, advertising collector, or scholar of the turbulent years of the 1960s, part of a major JFK estate collection of rare memorabilia documenting Kennedy's life and times.
