Outstanding example of fine opalescent glass in the hard to find Astro pattern from the Jefferson Glass Company c. 1905 can be yours with this lovely opalescent glass bowl. We loved the unique contrast of the wavy and ruffled perimeter with the intricate circles and patterns of the center of the bowl. Opalescent glass is a generalized term for clear and semi-opaque pressed glass, cloudy, marbled, and sometimes accented with subtle coloring all combining to form a milky opalescence in the glass. The bowl measures approximately 3.5" high and 8.75" in diameter, and it's in very good condition except for a very small chip less than 0.25" on the edge of one of the ruffles- not noticeable except upon feel or very close examination. This bargain priced new listing just arrived from a major waterfront estate in Old Saybrook, Connecticut and was part of a treasured glass collection.
