Thai or Chinese aged bronze Buddha displaying the samadhi mudra, or the gesture of absolute balance of meditation, with both hands placed on the lap, fingers touching and the palms facing upwards. The styling is characteristic of the late Sukhothai period; late 14th - early 15th centuries. Thai Buddha statues of this period display the full influences of Sri Lanka arts as an increasingly prosperous Siam (Thailand) adopted the Lanka sect of Buddhism.
